Oulu Sinfonia and Chief Conductor Rumon Gamba will shed light on the finest works of Oulu master composer Leevi Madetoja through a mini festival. Madetoja’s  Third Symphony (1926) is a colourful painting of Parisian pastels. In this piece one can hear the composer’s affinity to the elegant French culture, and the Finnish melancholy as the contrast. However, in his song works, both those intended for soloists and those for women’s choirs, Madetoja was able to reflect northern melancholia in a more touching way than perhaps any contemporary.
