Oulu Music Centre and Madetoja Hall celebrate their 40th anniversary this year. During the anniversary week, in addition to
the Gala Concert, the orchestra’s repertoire will include a rarity, Leevi Madetoja’s ballet pantomime Okon Fuoko.
Every month, the autumn season programme features artists from Oulu, or artists who have been active in Oulu. The season series begins with a visit by former Principal Guest Conductor John Storgårds to celebrate the 60th anniversary. The previous Chief Conductors, Arvo Volmer and Anna-Maria Helsing will also be seen in front of the orchestra.
The season begins with the Elojazz Festival’s multiple anniversary concert, and Oulu Sinfonia Open gathers the people of Oulu together for three concerts at the Hupisaari Summer Theatre during the Night of the Arts in August.
