Over recent decades, the orchestral conducting programme at the Sibelius Academy has gained a legendary reputation as a hotbed for future talent, its students being living evidence of the Finnish music miracle.
The professor of the conducting class Sakari Oramo now brings six young students to Oulu, to allow each of them to create their personal interpretation of one of tonight’s works as guest conductors of the orchestra. The programme featuring six dance pieces from various periods, ranging from Johann Strauss’ Emperor Waltz to La Valse by Maurice Ravel and Cinderella by Sergei Prokofiev promises to be hugely entertaining.
