Claude Debussy Rhapsody for Clarinet and Orchestra
Hector Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique, Op. 14
The young conducting talent Nathanaël Iselin will conduct French music for his debut with Oulu Sinfonia. The Impressionist work Rhapsody by Claude Debussy, whose compositions feature resounding images of light, shadows and dusk, is rarely performed. The seductive, poetic, and whimsical work has even been called the most beautiful French piece for the clarinet — and for good reason. Conversely, Hector Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique, regarded as the first fully romantic symphony, invites the listener for an opium-clouded journey into the shadowy world of addiction, love and murderous desire.
