The two composers, both committed and dedicated, in alternating phases of their lives, to the collection of folk music material to be used in their compositions, find themselves on the edge of an era, romanticism, stretching those edges in both directions with a strong admiration for the forms and styles of the past, an equally powerful gaze to their contemporaneity and a coherence and independence related to their own compositional mission and contribution.
In this occasion, we also celebrate the 150th birthday of the celebrated composer who embodies the sound of English music, Ralph Vaughan Williams, by whom we present the Piano Quintet in C minor where Brahms seem to appear at times as a hovering presence.
