Chamber Concert: Majestic Harmony

Welcome to Majestic Harmony: a program, where we celebrate the transcendent beauty of music! We are honoured to present a stellar lineup of talent that promises to enchant your hearts and souls.

This time, Oulu Sinfonia Chamber Musicians bring their renowned artistry and dedication to the stage, together with two distinguished guest artists: Ismo Hintsala, whose mastery of the organ is exceptional and Mika Väyrynen, a virtuoso accordionist who has captivated audiences worldwide with his breathtaking performances.

We open our evening with Olli Kortekangas’s Riemuvuoden fanfaari, a jubilant fanfare as a special tribute to honor the composer Olli Kortekangas on his 70th birthday. A fitting beginning that sets the tone for a night of celebration.

Next, we transition to Alexandre Guilmant’s Morceau Symphonique, Op.88, for trombone and organ. This piece showcases the intricate interplay between the instruments, weaving a tapestry of rich harmonies and emotional depth.

Following this, we will be graced by Antonín Dvořák’s Bagatelles, for two violins and cello. These delightful miniatures bring a touch of Bohemian charm and elegance, reflecting Dvořák’s mastery in creating enchanting melodies.

As the evening progresses, we will experience the grandeur of Gustav Holst’s Duo Concertante for trombone and organ. This piece highlights the virtuosic capabilities of the trombone, accompanied by the majestic sounds of the organ.

To conclude our musical journey, we present Astor Piazzolla’s Five Tango Sensations, for accordion and string quartet. These tangos are a passionate and dynamic exploration of the tango genre, filled with Piazzolla’s signature intensity and emotion.
