All That Jazz

Join Oulu Sinfonia and Oulu All Star Big Bang for a dazzling, nostalgia-tinged journey through the decades of jazz! From 1920s ragtime to bebop, cool jazz, hard bop and today’s modern styles, this concert captures the soul of jazz in all its forms. Star soloist Iiro Rantala – a leading figure in Finnish jazz – brings his trademark flair, improvisation and storytelling to the stage, guiding listeners from a Gershwin concert in Manhattan to the legendary Kind of Blue sessions at 30th Street Studio. The Oulu Sinfonia is led by conductor Teemu Takanen, who also created the symphonic arrangements for the evening.

The evening doesn’t end with the concert – on Thursday 11 December, the night continues at the Concert Club. Hosting the club is trumpetist and Artistic Director of the Oulu All Star Big Band, Jukka Eskola.
