The Oulu Symphony Orchestra will commence its spring season of symphony concerts with exceptionally warm music for the season.

Director Federico Fellini’s trusted composer Nino Rota created music extensively, also beyond the big screen. The piano concerto Soirée is a comprehensive concert piece, but at the heart of the nostalgia-infused music is a narrator. The soloist and orchestra present the whole range of characters of an Italian film in all their ludicrousness. Mackenzie Melemed, who has already won the hearts of the audience in Oulu many times, will be the soloist for this rarely performed treasure of a work.

Jean Sibelius’ early work Kevätlaulu and Robert Schumann’s first symphony brighten up even the darkest winter sky with bursts of sunlight.
