Oulu Symphony Orchestra
The word baroque is derived from the French word barroque, which refers to an oddly-shaped pearl. The terms Courante, Chaconne, Sarabande and Gavotte commonly used in baroque music are probably familiar to avid music fans, but how many have actually seen them danced? Now there is an opportunity for just that, as the Oulu Symphony Orchestra, the Sun King’s go-to composer Jean-Féry Rebel, and Steven Player, who transforms the richness of baroque music into dance, will introduce the audience to the captivating world of these French dances.
