The autumn season of Oulu Sinfonia begins with a record release concert, which also opens the Elojazz festival. In Aili Ikonen’s album Valo (Light), the songs of Finland’s brightest jazz singer meet the sound of a large orchestra. The album is a comprehensive dive into Ikonen’s versatile solo career as a singer and songwriter. Alongside her own compositions, familiar songs from her live performances throughout her career are heard. The joint interpretation by Ikonen and the symphony orchestra amplifies the strong jazz tones of the compositions to cinematic proportions.
