Igor Stravinsky: Firebird Suite (1945)

Miklós Rózsa conquered both the silver screen and concert halls. The Hungarian composer, who received the Academy Award for his music in the film Ben Hur, tailored his Sinfonia Concertante into a showcase for two equally matched virtuosos. Originally written for violin and cello, the piece is performed by violinist Elina Vähälä and violist Atte Kilpeläinen.

Emanuel Chabrier’s rhapsody España is a travelogue born from souvenirs, and an orchestral explosion that turned the composer into an overnight sensation.

A young Igor Stravinsky captivated Parisians with Russian exoticism in The Firebird, from which we will experience the rarely heard 1945 version.

Head start in Restaurant Preludi at 18:30. Discussion of the forthcoming concert.
