The award-winning documentaries Tale of a Forest (2012) and Tale of a Lake (2016) celebrate the beauty of Finnish nature with vividly coloured imagery and music that sparks the imagination. Completing the trilogy, Tale of the Sleeping Giant (2021) takes viewers deep into the wilderness of Lapland, whose unique landscapes have inspired myths and legends for centuries.
Directed by Marko Röhr, Tale of the Sleeping Giants takes audiences on a visually arresting journey into the rugged landscapes of the Arctic Circle, where animals such as the bear, stoat, willow grouse and snowy owl appear in breathtaking close-up. The film is powerfully driven by Panu Aaltio, a Jussi Award–winning composer. Tale of the Sleeping Giants will be presented at Madetoja Hall with live musical accompaniment, performed by Oulu Sinfonia and the vocal ensemble Tuuletar under the direction of Erkki Lasonpalo.
